Bio

  • Birth and Early Education: Ryozo Miki was born in 1942 in Osaka, Japan. In 1960, he studied at the Kyoto Ceramic Design School.

  • Apprenticeship: Between 1961 and 1966, he was an apprentice under the renowned Japanese master potter Mitsuo Kano. During this period, he exhibited with the prestigious Nitten group.

  • Move to Europe: In 1966, he moved to Sweden and began working with Swedish ceramists. He then moved to Denmark in 1969, where he established his first studio.

  • Establishment in Sweden: In 1976, he returned to Sweden and started a new studio in Wadköping, Örebro.

  • Move to Skåne: In 2006, he relocated his business to Stockamöllan in Skåne.

  • Artistic Expression: Miki is known for combining traditional Japanese pottery skills, which he learned in Kyoto, with a personal and free expression. His works are often a mix of impressed, incised, and painted decorations.
