Ryozo Miki

Ceramic Artist

Röhsska Museum, 1973

An exhibition by the ceramic artist Ryozo Miki was held at the Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1973. This was the first time Miki, a Japanese-born artist who had moved to Sweden, exhibited his work at the museum.

The exhibition showcased his unique style, which blends traditional Japanese ceramic techniques with more expressive, personal forms. Miki’s work, which includes vases, bowls, and other functional objects as well as reliefs and sculptures, is known for its humor, spontaneity, and a deep connection to the materials he uses. The 1973 exhibition was significant as it marked the beginning of his long-standing relationship with the museum and established him as a prominent figure in Swedish ceramic art.
